Second fiscal quarter for Sony Ericsson, the company generates losses

“The chain of production has been constraints on the earthquake in Japan, bringing an impact on the fiscal second quarter.” So begins the account of the last three months accounting for Sony Ericsson, in justification of the data for anything positive.

The company sold 7.6 million phones compared with 11 million in the same quarter of 2010, a decrease of 31%, 70% of them are smartphones. The average price drops to € 156 € against 160 last year generating a turnover of 1.193 billion euros against 1.757 billion the same period last year with a 33% reduction.

All this is reflected through income increased from € 12 million for the second quarter of 2010 to the current loss of 50 million. The company announced that the Xperia series has grown by 150% by selling 16 million units. The debts of the company now touching 769 million €.
