HP spin-off, ready to sell its PC division and in game there are also tablets and smartphones WebOS

WebOSHP, better known as Hewlett Packard, was one of the most revolutionary computer companies of the past 20 years has contributed to technological development in the consumer sector and beyond. The American company had recently made his own the small Palm, a company a long time leader in mobile devices (PDAs and smartphones then).

Just the acquisition of Palm and its excellent operating system WebOS was for the same HP of fundamental importance for the launch – with many problems and delays – a series of new mobile devices and smartphones tablet. The adoption of WebOS, was not limited to mobile devices, but provided for a forward-looking strategy with the adoption of this OS in the field PC.

Through a series of rumors and the first official press releases after HP said to be keen to sell its PC division (which includes tablets and smartphones) in favor of a change of corporate strategy with the acquisition in the year of Autonomy, a company involved in software management and information flows. The result of the sale of the division, Personal Systems Group (PSG) is simple: the suspension of all projects WebOS reserves in the future to continue the development of the project or, for example, the sale of licenses.

The spinoff of the group will not be immediate but over a period of time ranging from 12 to 18 months. The suspension of WebOS and TouchPad project, however, seem to have immediate effect. The keywords of the new strategy are HP, then: cloud, and enterprise software. For the mobile phone market, however, it is a big loss.
