Android celebrates the 10 billion downloads

10 billion downloadsThe Android Market over the considerable share of 10 billion apps downloaded. A figure that shows the huge success of Google‘s operating system and great news for the search engine in the first place, as well as for the many fans of Android. It ‘was the same that Google has announced this news from her official blog.


One thing that struck us is the growth rate at which the app is downloaded, about a billion more each month. At this rate, the future of Android looks increasingly bright.

The stages of this huge success are clearly defined. In July 2010, has reached the proportion of one billion apps downloaded. In March 2011 has been touched 3 billion shares. Only two months later, in May, the downloads were 4.5 billion, in July it touched 6 billion in early December and was crossing the finish line of 10 billion apps downloaded by users.

To celebrate this great event, Google has entered the partership with some of the most active companies in terms of development of software for the Android mobile platform, such as Gameloft, Subatomic Studios and Mojang. From December 6 and 10 days, in fact, these companies will provide users, at a cost of only 10 cents, some of their most well known software. The first app that will be made available are, in alphabetical order, Asphalt 6 HD, Color & Draw for Kids, Endomondo Sports Tracker Pro HD Fieldrunners, Great Little War Game, Minecraft, Room Paper, Sketchbook Mobile, Infinity and SoundHound Swiftkey X.

By comparison with the iPhone and the iPhone OS, the house of Cupertino has reached 1 billion apps downloaded after 20 months from the opening of its App Store, while Google has put in more than a month. It took only another 10 months at Apple share to touch 10 billion, a goal reached in January 2011. Google however, from its first billion downloads, it took 16 months to achieve the same goal.
