Try Motorola RAZR Android

Motorola RAZR AndroidThe Motorola Razr Droid is the thinnest smartphone on the market and the best phone ever produced by Motorola, an American company recently passed in the Google property. As you use everyday? Let’s find out together in this pre-series version.

The new RAZR features a custom Android operating system from Motorola. Some change is useful and practical, is to say, however, that some animations and slow down slightly to the fluidity of cell. For the rest of the dual core processor is very fast and applications open in a flash. The screen is the sore point of the phone; the AMOLED is not crystal clear and often creates effects that ruin the quality of images, such as texts and web pages. It was during Web browsing screen gives some problems when scrolling, the images seem to lose resolution and on the move are unclear.

Design
The phone is incredibly thin and first impressions are excellent, both in terms of the size in general, both as regards the quality of materials. After a few hours of use, however, one realizes that the thickness and size is not everything in width and height makes it awkward to hold long conversations becoming uncomfortable. Another problem is that the phone slips easily, and those who have very small hands may find it difficult to use the device with one hand. Less convincing from the point of view of aesthetics part of the camera that protrudes from the rear, the Razr Droid is still elegant and modern lines. The materials are of excellent quality, the frame is steel and Kevlar are many parts, thus ensuring high rigidity while maintaining an extremely low weight. In addition, the phone is not afraid of the anti-spray and splash like many other phones on the market.

Software
The device leaves the factory with Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread but it contains many animations to make the first impact OS even more beautiful in appearance, only to tire after a while ‘to use. System icons are slightly smaller than those of Motorola and the alignment is not always perfect. Some applications it seems too complex, as the gallery of images, or the widget used for contacts. Useful rather smart actions, which allow you to make transactions automatically without having to do anything. When you return home you can for example select the automatic ignition and turn off WiFi and GPS bluetooth, or, when we get in the car to automatically start the browser or even to start the music when the headphones are inserted. The configuration is simple and still allows full customization, but we are on track.

Battery
The battery has a good life. Using the phone normally and without using the WiFi or GPS too, you can safely use it for 2 days without recharging. When accessing the internet via WiFi or using the navigation device as the range drops, but in our tests has remained above the day. We reserve the right to better assess the duration of a production model. Note that the 1780 mAh battery is not replaceable.

Display
The display has convinced us. The resolution is 960 × 540 pixels and the screen is AMOLED, but the image quality is often not a high level. The letters are not up to competing phones and readability in the browser page is not always optimal. When you’re browsing the web page and drag the bottom of the picture is distorted, as if they lost the vertical lines of resolution and often have annoying red spots. The choice of an AMOLED was dictated by the small size of the phone even if doing so Motorola has had to sacrifice the quality of the screen.

Cameras
The 8 mega pixel camera does its job quite well. It ‘a little’ slows in autofocus, but when conditions permit great shots. The same can not however say when trying to take a picture with poor lighting. The colors are often much darker than the real ones and pictures in general are a bit ‘too dark. Flash is excellent and serves to avoid these problems but limits its scope to subjects that are near the phone. The videos are good, the preset is in 720p and produces a good quality video, and you can also set a resolution of 1080p video to get more defined, yet create large files. The camera on the side of the screen is a 1.3 mega pixels mainly used for video calls. The quality is very good and, during our tests with Skype Access, the video is very fluid and seamless.

Pro and con

Battery
Smart Actions

Note: pre-production model, not definitive.
