After the announcement last winter, the market eagerly awaiting the first Intel smartphone and finally we can say we have: The Lava Xolo X900 will be the first phone equipped with Intel Atom Z2460 processor and Medfield, will be launched first in India April 23, and finally answer all the questions about Intel‘s efforts to bring their smartphones.
The first question deals with an immediate price: about 323 euros (22,000 Indian rupees), a price considered average. The focus is of course entirely dedicated to the processor from 1.6GHz single-core Intel Atom which carries with it the technology “hyper threading”, managing to be competitive with dual-core ARM market and, perhaps, even the latest quad- core. The phone has been implemented a dedicated graphics core, 400MHz and some preliminary benchmarks have shown the performance of everything about the chip.
The Lava Xolo X900 is equipped with a screen by 4 inches with a resolution of 600 × 1024 pixels and appears to be relatively light. On board we find Gingerbread Android 2.3 operating system, but that should soon be upgraded to Ice Cream Sandwich. It also has an 8 megapixel camera that promises impressive speeds – up to 10 images in burst mode, and in less than a second. The internal memory is 16 gigabytes; we find support for NFC and 1GB of RAM.
The battery life seems to be 5 hours of 3G browsing, 45 hours of audio and 8 hours of talk time.
