The news was in the air, we had already talked about earlier, but now it’s official: the Amazon App Store will land in Europe and in Italy by the summer. The news comes directly from Italy that Amazon has announced the news via an email containing a statement that shows:
SEATTLE – June 20, 2012 – (NASDAQ: AMZN) – Amazon.com, Inc. today announced that developers can submit their applications for distribution that will take place starting this summer in the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy and Spain, with the prospect of further international expansion next. Developers can now visit the site “Amazon Mobile App Distribution”.
In a single year, the Amazon Appstore in the U.S. has experienced a growing number of applications and games from a few dozen to several thousand units. With features such as 1-Click purchasing system and test drive (which allows consumers to test them before buying them), the developers have achieved substantial revenues from the sale of applications through Amazon. Amazon has also recently introduced a method of in-app purchase, which makes it even easier for developers to integrate and sell games and applications, while maintaining the simplicity and safety of the system 1-Click purchasing. Many developers have seen their sales increase thanks to the In-App purchase from Amazon, so we are excited to offer their applications to an even greater number of customers, even outside the United States.
Work on this important expansion of the Amazon platform has already begun, in fact, developers have published the app on Amazon App Store can already prepare the prices for our national market. The App Store, and likely other services will also be available in Germany, France, Spain and United Kingdom.
Definitely interesting and rather intriguing Amazon’s move not to limit its ecosystem in the U.S. alone, the next day Google I / O should submit some news about their services offered, the war will be two in our continent? We’ll see, we just have to wait.
